Late Night Questions with Jaguars O-Zone

Bill from Hawthorn Woods, IL
The same old Jags are dead. The team that used to fold when it got tough, always lost out West and rarely could rise in moments that mattered is gone. This team has an edge to them that we have all been waiting to see. What a joy to see!
I sense this O-Zone Late Night will be more celebratory than analytical, and you know what? That’s fine. There wasn’t all that much to analyze Sunday. The Jaguars were really good in the red zone and on third down. The defense allowed a lot of yards but made big plays in big moments and never let Broncos quarterback Bo Nix play above the Xs and Os. Lawrence remains the story for the Jaguars. He’s ascending at a rapid rate. That ascension along with the Jaguars being a tough team mentally and physically means this team can play with any team in the NFL. And winning is cool. Fans like it.
Okay. Going into the playoffs (and they are going into the playoffs), this is a team that can go toe to toe with anyone, in any conditions. Right?

There’s something Strange going on tonight!
Tight end Brenton Strange is good. He showed it again Sunday with a couple of critical catches in the first half, including one for a key touchdown. He’s a big-time player.

Win or lose, you know what’s great about this? We have a community of people excited about the team and we get to share in the joy. Is there anything more important than that?
My goodness, every yard is like pulling teeth. That defense is outrageously good. Every single player is going to wake up black and blue. Wow.
This was the much-ballyhooed, oft-misguided, sometimes-witty First Email of the Game. Football is a violent, physical game. Sunday was every bit of that.
This season has been fun. Beating the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Broncos, Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans. Never expected this at the start of the season, but I have definitely enjoyed it. I have no idea how the rest of the season will go, but it’s exciting to be playing meaningful games in the final quarter of the season, and it’s fun to feel like you can compete with anyone in the league. Let’s keep this thing rolling and see what happens!

I know it’s not always coaching, but when you have a 2-touchdown lead and run 3 straight pass plays and waste no clock, it is 100% coaching. Yes, Trevor had a great game, but you cannot give the ball back so fast to a team they can obviously score quickly.
It’s Week 16. The Jaguars are 11-4 and in first place in the AFC South. And we still haven’t found anyone who can fix those damned little lights.

Come on, Zone. How are we supposed to accept that penalty? They can’t tackle shoulders now?
This references an unnecessary roughness penalty on Jaguars safety Antonio Johnson in the third quarter Sunday. There are many penalties in the NFL these days for what at first glance seems very close to playing football.
Should they sign Parker Washington to a contract extension now?
I didn’t believe after San Francisco, I didn’t believe after Indy, I didn’t believe after the Chargers, I believe now. What an incredible win.
I’m not sure what took so long to believe. The Jaguars have been good all season. They have proven this by beating good teams all season. They’re really good now. Glad you caught up.
