If you’re a lottery player who enjoys playing Lotto Max, you’ll notice some pretty significant changes in the new year.
In October, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) announced that major changes are coming to Lotto Max and that new rules will be implemented starting April 14, 2026.
The current maximum jackpot prize is at $80 million, but according to new Lotto Max rules, that prize is set to get even bigger.
“The top Lotto Max jackpot will increase from $80 million to $90 million — a new record-breaking jackpot level for a Canadian lottery!” reads a statement from Lotto Max.
And it’s not just the jackpot that’s set to change. In 2026, there will be more prizes up for grabs as each Lotto Max draw will include multiple $100,000 prizes based on the size of the jackpot.

“For example, when the jackpot is $10 million, 10 additional $100,000 prizes will be drawn, and so on, up to 90 additional $100,000 prizes when the jackpot hits $90 million,” states the release. “That’s on top of the growing Maxmillions prizing that may be available.”
But these changes will come at a price, albeit a small one.
Currently, each ticket costs $5 per play; however, ticket prizes are set to go up to $6. OLG explains that these changes will allow the corporation to continue offering more prizes. It also points out that ticket prices have remained the same since the game was introduced in 2009.
“We’re committed to keeping Lotto Max fresh and fun, and these enhancements ensure we can keep delivering the excitement you expect,” states the release.
