Rohl wants more from Rangers midfielder Raskin

Rangers manager Danny Rohl wants more from midfielder Nicolas Raskin and has had a long conversation with the Belgium international about the required improvements.

Raskin, 24, was dropped under Rohl’s predecessor Russell Martin and previously admitted he had doubts over his future in Glasgow amid speculation linking him with a transfer away from Ibrox.

Rohl sees the former Standard Liege man as central to his plans and believes Raskin is on board.

“Nico is an important player for me and the group,” the German said. “We worked individually on him and in meetings I spoke with him what I want to see more.

“I had an individual talk with him in the last few days. It was very long, 25-30 minutes. I’m totally convinced that he recognises what we are doing.”

Raskin has performed a range of different roles in midfield since signing for the club in 2023, but Rohl is certain of his best position.

“It’s very clear for me that he’s a six because he likes to have the game in front of him,” Rohl said.

“I see that he can attack forward from a six, rather than backwards from an eight or ten position. It’s very clear for me that he’s a six.”
