Where Russell Westbrook Ranks on NBA All-Time Assists List After Passing Magic Johnson

Sacramento Kings guard Russell Westbrook has passed Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson for seventh overall on the NBA’s all-time assist list.
Westbrook is just one of eight NBA players all-time to amass 10,000 or more assists.
The 37-year-old Westbrook is in his 18th NBA season and first with the Kings. He’s a nine-time All-Star and two-time scoring champion who’s also led the NBA in assists three times.
A member of the 75th Anniversary Team, Westbrook has also averaged a triple-double on four occasions.
Westbrook entered Friday’s home game vs. the Dallas Mavericks averaging 14.4 points, 7.2 assists and 6.9 rebounds per contest.
It’s conceivable that Westbrook could be in the top five in assists all time before the season ends. The current top six consists of John Stockton (15,806), Chris Paul (12,552), Jason Kidd (12,091), LeBron James (11,673), Steve Nash (10,335) and Mark Jackson (10,334).
Sacramento entered Friday with 52 more games on the schedule. If Westbrook keeps his current seven-assist pace, he’ll easily surpass Jackson and Nash before the end of the season to get in the top five.
