But Channel 5 viewers were told they would have to turn over to Channel 5 Action to watch the final stages of the showdown.

That is because NFL Big Game Night – showing the Miami Dolphins’ clash with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – was coming onto their screens.

And fans took to social media to make it clear they were raging after the American Football was given the nod over the British Seniors Open final’s thrilling climax.

One said: “Shocking decision from Channel 5 not to continue broadcasting the final of the British Seniors Snooker.

“Currently 6-5 in a first to seven. If this is what we are going to get in the tournaments they are showing in 2026, it doesn’t fill me with much optimism.”

Another added: “I’m here on Twitter trying to find out who won. Was watching it myself and didn’t realise they had cut the broadcast.”

A third annoyed viewer chimed in: “Just found it on channel 32. But it’s finished!!!”

Those who failed to make the switch missed Perry securing a dramatic 7-5 win to get his hands on the title for the first time.

He ended White’s hopes of taking it to a black ball shootout with a composed final frame.

Perry has pocketed £20,000 thanks to being crowned the winner at Vaillant Live.

He retired after the World Championship earlier this year- before deciding to try his luck on the seniors circuit.

Perry knocked out pre-tournament favourite Stuart Bingham and Matthew Stevens to reach the final.

White, 63, battled back from a two-frame deficit to overcome Alfie Burden after already beating Ken Doherty.
