New York State attorney general warns of price gouging during winter storm

NEW YORK STATE (WRGB) – New York State’s attorney general is out with a reminder on price gouging during the winter storm.
Letitia James reminds New Yorkers it’s illegal for businesses to charge excessive prices for essential goods and services during emergencies.
That includes food, water, gasoline, generators, hotel rooms, batteries, flashlights, and more.
Fines are up to $25,000 per violation.
Anyone who thinks they see price gouging should call 800-771-7755, or fill out an online complaint form. You should include dates, locations, receipts, and photos.
