MVG’s ex-wife says she’s having ‘miracle’ baby after ‘overlapping’ relationship

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN’s ex-wife is expecting a baby with her new partner in January – despite only splitting from the darts ace seven months ago.

The pair announced in May that with “great sadness” they would be going their separate ways.

They had two children together and had been married for more than a decade.

Now, in a bombshell interview with Shownieuws, Daphne Govers has announced that she is expecting a “miracle” child next month with new boyfriend Robert.

And the acknowledgement that she made a “mistake” hints at an overlap between the two relationships given that the child is due less than nine months after her split from 36-year-old Van Gerwen.

Govers said: “I didn’t expect it. I was at the hospital with the other two, too. I couldn’t have gotten pregnant naturally. If it does happen, it’ll be a miracle.

“My world was completely turned upside down. How am I going to handle this? But in the end, it all worked out. It’s more than welcome.”

Asked about her time with Van Gerwen and how he feels about her pregnancy, she added: “Of course, a mistake was made on my part.

“Everyone knows that. We don’t have to hide that. I’d rather keep the story private.

“I wouldn’t dare say [how Van Gerwen feels]. I don’t think he’s very happy, but I really don’t know.”

Three-time world champion Van Gerwen gave himself the summer off as darts took a back seat to a turbulent time in his private life.

The Dutchman went to the Tomorrowland festival and took a trip to Ibiza, where he saw Martin Garrix at Ushuaia.

A fourth World Darts Championship win and the £1million top prize could go some way towards helping him through a break-up which hit him hard.

Van Gerwen – who was cheered on by an OnlyFans model in the first round at Ally Pally – told AD of his summer away from the oche: “I’m just human, you know.

“At some point, you want to think about nice things again, not just be preoccupied with the mess you’re experiencing at that moment.

“I couldn’t write this script myself, so I’ll have to deal with it in a way I think is right.

“You could just sit around and grieve all day, but that’s pointless. So you do fun things, take time for yourself.”

MVG faces Arno Merk on Sunday night for a place in the fourth round.
