Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark is taking a leave of absence for “personal reasons,” the team announced Sunday.
“Linus has the full support of our organization during this time,” Senators general manager and president of hockey operations Steve Staios said in a statement released by the team. “Out of respect to Linus, we will not be making any further comments.”
Ullmark holds a 14-8-5 record this season in 28 games with a 2.95 goals-against average and an .881 save percentage. On Saturday, he was pulled after allowing four goals on 14 shots in a 7-5 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Swedish goaltender is in the first year of a four-year, $33-million contract extension signed in October 2024, months after the Boston Bruins traded him to the Senators. Ullmark has a 39-22-8 record in 72 career games with the Senators, to go along with an .899 save percentage and a 2.82 goals-against average.
He previously won the Vezina and Jennings trophies as a member of the Bruins following the 2022-23 season, when he finished the year with a 1.89 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage.
