It is all change this week as the usual Birmingham bin collection dates have been moved over the festive period.

Every household will not have their bins collected on their usual day in the week beginning Monday, December 29.

And some city households will have TWO collections this week, as they missed out on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The changes are irrespective of the ongoing strike action by Unite members which has caused havoc all year.

Or it can be taken to the city’s five household recycling centres which are all open for extended hours during the Christmas break.

But the key rubbish collection days to remember are as follows.

Recycling though remains suspended, as it has done for most of the year, and items which could be recycled can be placed in black bin bags with other rubbish.

Anyone not wanting to wait, or who has a mound of rubbish or recycling they would like to dispose of themselves, can head to a household recycling centre at Tameside Drive, Castle Bromwich (Castle Vale), Lifford Lane, Kings Norton, Holford Drive, Perry Barr, Norris Way, Sutton Coldfield, or James Road, Tyseley.

Appointments must be booked in advance.

All of the city’s tips will be open from 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday, barring New Year’s Eve (Wednesday, January 31) which will be 7am to 6pm. And at weekends they are all open from 8am to 6pm.
