ALTAVISTA, Va. (WSET) — A man was arrested following an altercation that led to a shooting in Altavista, according to police.
According to the Altavista Police Department, 21-year-old Antonio Deshaun Hunt was arrested following an altercation that led to him allegedly shooting another person, sending them to the hospital.
Sunday morning, around 10:40 a.m., officers with APD, along with deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the 500 block of 8th Street in Altavista for a report of a disturbance.

When officials arrived, they reported that someone had been shot during an altercation with another resident, later identified as Hunt.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.
Police say Hunt was charged with the following:
- Malicious Wounding — Code of Virginia 18.2-51
- Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony — 18.2-53.1
- Two Counts of Brandishing a Firearm — 18.2-282
Hunt was taken to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Rustburg, where police say he is being held without bond.
