Carolina Hurricanes claim F Noah Philp off waivers from Oilers

The Carolina Hurricanes have claimed forward Noah Philp off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers.
Philp has two goals and one assist in 15 games with the Oilers this season. The 27-year-old centre had two assists in 15 games with Edmonton last season, adding 19 goals and 35 points in 55 AHL games with the Bakersfield Condors.
Philp is a pending unrestricted free agent, carrying a cap hit of $775,000 this season.
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Danton Heinen, New York Islanders defenceman Ethan Bear, Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Marshall Rifai and Utah Mammoth defender Juuso Valimaki all cleared waivers after being moved upon the NHL’s roster freeze ending.
Oilers forward David Tomasek cleared on unconditional waivers and will have his contract terminated.
