Rideshare driver found shot in head in car in New York City’s first homicide of 2026

MOUNT HOPE, Bronx (WABC) — A rideshare driver was discovered dead in a car in the Bronx in what is believed to be the city’s first homicide of the New Year.
Firefighters responding to a car fire found the 55-year-old man shot twice in the head near Morris Avenue and the Cross Bronx Expressway in the Mount Hope section just before 6:55 a.m. Thursday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into his death is ongoing.
