Mummers Parade is still going on, after string band competition postponed amid wind in Philadelphia | 2026 Philadelphia Mummers Parade Livestream

PHILADELPHIA – The Mummers Parade is still going on, after its string band competition was postponed. The move comes after sets were damaged and people were injured amid windy conditions in Philadelphia.
The parade itself will still go on as scheduled Thursday.
String Band Association president Sam Regalbuto said all 14 string bands were still due to perform Thursday. The bands will go without props, but performers will still be in costumes and makeup to entertain crowds.
Due to snow squalls that came through as well as wind, the string bands’ sets and props were damaged, and four or five people were taken to the hospital, he said.
Regalbuto said organizers are working on a new venue and another day for the competition to be held.
“It was hard for all of us as a unit to make this decision,” he said, adding safety is a priority.
“The competition will go on, it just will happen on another day,” he said.
He said the bands work hard all year to prepare for the parade.
More information will be released as soon as possible, Regalbuto said.
