After starting the Serie A season with a 15-match winless streak, Fiorentina gave their supporters an unexpected Christmas gift in the form of a 5-1 rout of Udinese on December 21.
They were helped by an early red card for Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and La Viola can boost their hopes of a great escape with another entertaining home win over Cremonese on Sunday.
Fiorentina are bottom of the table with nine points from 17 matches but they have shown glimpses of their attacking quality this season, especially at home.
They drew 2-2 with Bologna in October and 1-1 with Juventus in October and have scored in narrow defeats to title contenders Milan, Napoli and Roma.
Cremonese’s xG data suggests they are massively flattered by a goals-against tally of 20 in 17 games so backing Fiorentina to win and both teams to score looks a good bet.
The hosts cannot afford to sit back in fixtures such as this one if they are to drag themselves to safety and Italy international Moise Kean and Iceland striker Albert Gudmundsson are classy attacking options.
Cremonese also have a proven goalscorer in the shape of veteran Jamie Vardy, who notched twice in their 3-1 win at Bologna at the start of December.
Their defence is hard to trust, though, and they faced 22 shots – eight of them on target – in last weekend’s 2-0 home defeat to Napoli.
