A woman is feeling “hurt” over not being included in her close friend’s bachelorette party — especially after she found out the reason why she didn’t make the guest list.
In a post on the U.K. community forum Mumsnet, the woman shared that her close friend from university is planning to get married next year, and a chat for her bachelorette party popped up on WhatsApp — but she was not invited.
“It’s a spa weekend in the Cotswolds for 12 of her ‘favorite girls,’ and apparently I didn’t make the cut,” the OP (original poster) wrote.
The OP noted that she thought the pair had been close as they had “playdates” and had been on vacation together, and she even hosted her baby shower. The Redditor was also asked to “do a reading” at her friend’s wedding, which made her think they were “properly close.”

The OP said she bumped into a friend who had been invited to the bachelorette party and let slip a few details about who was attending and how much it would cost. Her friend told her that they were each spending $600 for the special event.
“I’m gutted and embarrassed and feel like I’ve been demoted to [a] second-tier friend,” the OP wrote. “[My friend] says I’m overthinking it, and these things are always about money/numbers, but I can’t help feeling hurt.”
She then questioned whether she was wrong to be “upset” about not being included in the bachelorette party and whether she should just “smile and pretend” she didn’t know anything.
In response, one person said that she was “totally not unreasonable to be upset,” as her friend’s behavior was odd. Another wrote, “Usually when these things happen, it’s because the person being left out isn’t as close to the bride as they think they are.”
Another person suggested that maybe her friend forgot to invite her.
“It’s possible she might wonder why you’re not there,” they wrote. “Could you slip in a comment to her in private along the lines of ‘I hope you have a wonderful time and if anyone drops out I’d love to come?’ ”
“You’re right to feel annoyed, but maybe it’s just a numbers thing, maybe places were limited, and by the time you factor in family and closer friends it could have just simply been down to numbers,” another commenter said.

One person also responded that they found it “strange” that the OP’s friend asked her to do a reading for her wedding and did not invite her to the bachelorette celebration. They suggested that she ask her friend, as “she clearly really values you.”

In response, the OP shared that she also “found it strange” and added that she was “a bit of a wild one while drinking.” She then wondered out loud whether that was why she was excluded from the bachelorette.
The OP said she ultimately reached out and texted her bride-to-be friend to find out what happened, and her friend confirmed that it was because she could be “a bit of a nightmare drunk.”
