5 Things To Know About New Chargers G Ben Cleveland

3. Playing in different spots
The 6-foot-6, 355-pound offensive lineman has seen action in the NFL at a variety of different spots.
The bulk of Cleveland’s action during his first five seasons have come at left guard, where he’s played 392 offensive snaps.
He also has a good amount of experience at right guard by playing 247 snaps at that position.
Of his seven starts, four have came at left guard and three have came at right guard.
Prior to his NFL career, Cleveland was a top offensive lineman in the SEC at Georgia.
He played in 45 career games (25 starts) at Georgia, becoming a full-time starter in 2020 and earning First-Team All-SEC honors.
He also has experience playing on the same offensive line as one of his new teammates in Jamaree Salyer from their time with the Bulldogs.
The two lineman played together from 2018 to Cleveland’s final year in 2020. Salyer saw the bulk of his action in 2020 at left tackle while Cleveland manned the right guard spot.
It remains to be seen how, or if, Cleveland factors into the mix on the offensive line.
But as we’ve seen with Hortiz and his staff, they have done this before adding a veteran to the practice squad before the playoffs to bolster the depth heading into January.
