Is Odessa A’zion Wearing a Wig?

In the past few months, the internet has been getting acquainted with the 25-year-old actress Odessa A’zion after the premieres of I Love LA and Marty Supreme. The real question, unexpectedly, on everybody’s lips: Are her gloriously thick, impossibly glossy, jet-black corkscrew curls a wig? She addressed the pressing rumors last night at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards.

You can’t exactly blame everyone for thinking she’s wearing some sort of wig or headpiece (perhaps even some extensions?) after seeing images of a teenage A’zion with hair that looks lighter, finer, and more wavy than curly. The star is aware of the allegations. “There’s a whole debate: ‘Is it a wig? Is it not?’” she told Deadline on Sunday night’s red carpet. “I guess we’ll never know. No, I’m kidding.”

The actress said that while her shorter, coiffed hair at the Los Angeles premiere of Marty Supreme was a wig, for “the New York premiere, it took me five hours to do my hair, and everyone thinks it’s a wig,” she explained. In one of her Instagram posts, A’zion touched up her curls with what appears to be a straightening iron before the NYC premiere.

“You think I can afford a wig like that and wear it all the time?” she added. “Those are so expensive. I’ve heard wigs can go up to, like, $20 or $30,000. Are you fucking kidding me? I don’t even have a hair, makeup, or stylist because I’m trying to save my money. Maybe one day.”

So, really, this could just be a case of some good hair dye and a girl leaning into her natural curls. If that is indeed all of her own hair, I’m impressed — and I’m going to need her to teach us her gravity-defying ways.
