All Glasgow Subway services cancelled after frozen ice causes power failure amid weather warning

Services on the Glasgow Subway were wiped out on Tuesday morning due to a power failure caused by frozen ice.

SPT said that due to the power failure at the Subway depot caused by frozen ice on the third rail, services are unable to run on both inner and outer circles.

A statement read: “Reciprocal arrangements with ScotRail are now in place so Subway Smartcard holders can travel between Partick and City Centre while services are suspended.”

SPT said it was unable to move trains into the system with no stations open.

The disruption comes amid yellow weather warnings for snow and ice coming into effect in Glasgow and the West on Tuesday.
