What West Ham fans did during Nottingham Forest game would have made David Sullivan squirm

West Ham United majority shareholder David Sullivan would have been very uncomfortable with one thing that was hard to ignore during the defeat to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.
Sullivan has received plenty of criticism from the West Ham fans in recent years.
However, in the interest of balance, he does deserve credit for backing Nuno Espirito Santo with funds in the January transfer window.
That doesn’t mean that he’s immune from criticism; of course he isn’t.

Some Hammers fans are clearly still very unhappy with the way Sullivan has gone about running the football club in recent years.
And that was clearly evident at the London Stadium during the clash with Forest on Tuesday night.
Uncomfortable viewing for David Sullivan during West Ham vs Forest
Sullivan is someone who hates losing money, as all billionaires do…obviously.
And there was something on show at the London Stadium that would have hurt the 76-year-old deeply.
The most painful thing for Sullivan on Tuesday night was that West Ham fans voted with their feet at the London Stadium.
The official attendance in the 62,500 capacity stadium was around 57,000.

However, anyone watching on their TV screens or indeed inside the arena will know that wasn’t the case.
The ground was three quarters full, at best.
Now, if there’s one thing that truly scares Sullivan, it’s the thought of losing money, or the value of his club tanking.
What would any potential new owners have made of the empty seats on show at the London Stadium during the West Ham vs Nottingham Forest game?

David Sullivan has never been someone to bow down to demands from the West Ham fans.
However, it seems like the Hammers supporters who are unhappy with Sullivan’s running of the club have finally clocked the best way to protest.
Silent protests are always the most effective.
The West Ham co-owner would have been really concerned by the sheer volume of empty seats at the London Stadium during the clash with Forest.
If the West Ham fans stop showing up, Sullivan will feel the need to act, and perhaps that will bode well for the Hammers during the remainder of the January transfer window.
