Arthur Rinderknech has decided to withdraw from the Adelaide tournament scheduled for next week to preserve his body at the start of the season. The Frenchman is coming off an especially gruelling United Cup, during which he spent nearly seven hours on court across just two matches.

In tightly contested matches, Rinderknech first lost to Stan Wawrinka before prevailing after a long battle against Italian Flavio Cobolli. In total, 6 hours 44 minutes of play left their mark and prompted the Frenchman to choose caution, favoring rest rather than risking a busy schedule just days before the Australian Open.

A new seeded status

This withdrawal from Adelaide will allow him to approach the season’s first Grand Slam in better condition. Rinderknech will arrive in Melbourne fresher, and he will also have a new seeded status, which could mean a more favorable draw and increased confidence for this major event.
