Knights trade Sam O’Reilly to rival Rangers in blockbuster

Two of the OHL’s biggest rivals have come together on a massive trade.
The two-time defending-champion London Knights have traded star forward Sam O’Reilly and 19-year-old forward Jared Woolley on Wednesday to the Kitchener Rangers for a package that includes 11 draft picks.
O’Reilly, 19, is coming off winning a bronze medal with Team Canada at the world juniors under Knights head coach Dale Hunter. He was named one of Canada’s three players of the tournament after scoring four goals and four assists.
The Edmonton Oilers selected O’Reilly in the first round, 32nd overall, in the 2024 NHL Draft. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning for top prospect Ike Howard last summer.
The Rangers are ] leading the Midwest Division with 50 points, just three points more than the Knights.
