Amanda Holden found herself red-faced after being “rumbled” during a lie detector test on her Heart Radio Breakfast Show, when what appeared to be a harmless question about Simon Cowell’s fashion sense revealed a startlingly candid style verdict about her longtime Britain’s Got Talent colleague.

The 53-year-old broadcaster and panellist participated in the playful on-air feature, tackling various questions whilst connected to a lie detector, with findings disclosed instantly. Initially, proceedings went without a hitch when Amanda faced a query about whether she’d ever participate in The Masked Singer.

“Would you ever do The Masked Singer, Amanda?” came the question.

“No,” Amanda responded with certainty.

“And again, we’re off to a good start. She’s telling the truth,” the host announced, as the lie detector confirmed her honesty, according to The Mirror.

Amanda was swift to explain that her rejection wasn’t related to any issues with the programme format. “I love watching it, by the way, but I just wouldn’t do it. No. Be too sweaty in there. I’d do it for the weight loss,” she quipped.

Nevertheless, the atmosphere changed when listener Michelle sent in a text with a question that thrust Simon Cowell directly into the limelight. “Do you think Simon Cowell’s dress sense is good?” Amanda was challenged — immediately triggering the lie detector.

“I knew his name would come up,” Amanda chuckled, before responding cautiously. “Dress sense? When he wears a suit in the live finals, I think he looks really handsome, yes.”

But the lie detector seemed sceptical.

“Oh, I’m seeing a bit of deceptive reaction, Amanda. I’m sorry, Simon,” the presenter declared, leaving Amanda looking rather sheepish.

Trying to justify her response — and accidentally spilling the “brutal” reality — Amanda persisted. “He does look very handsome on the live shows in a shirt and jacket. Well, I don’t mind his compression tops. It’s the tracksuit bottoms for me.”

She proceeded to champion Cowell against one specific style gossip, stating: “He doesn’t wear a Cuban heel — I’m going to stick up for him — but I’m not a fan of a tracksuit bottom on a man on live television.”

Amanda previously poked fun at Simon Cowell’s sartorial choices during a This Morning appearance last year. Whilst chatting with presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, the panellist seized the opportunity to mention Simon — alongside fellow BGT star Bruno Tonioli — after their stint on the ITV morning programme the week before.

Amanda’s remarks were triggered by Simon’s casual ensemble when he featured on This Morning alongside Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond. With spring sunshine streaming through the studio windows, the entertainment mogul chose grey shorts, a choice that caught the attention of both viewers — and Amanda.

“I know he came on your show last week, but can we discuss Simon Cowell’s trousers that he had on?” Amanda remarked, sparking giggles throughout the studio. She went on: “What was he wearing? Did he cycle in? He’s got a good knee,” she quipped, delivering the comment with her signature deadpan wit.

The frank revelation turned heads, considering Amanda and Simon’s enduring professional partnership.

The duo have been seated alongside each other on the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel for more than ten years, establishing themselves as two of the most familiar personalities on the ITV talent programme.

Renowned for their on-screen rapport and cheeky exchanges, Amanda has frequently lauded Simon’s talent-spotting abilities and his impact on her professional journey.
