Everything We Know About ‘The White Lotus’ Season 4’s Castle

Sounds like The White Lotus’s next location will tower over its predecessors. Unlike the rich vacationers on all past seasons of Mike White’s show, season-four stars Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka won’t be checking into a Four Seasons hotel. Instead, Variety reports that the next installment of the HBO anthology series will be shot at a castle hotel called the Château de la Messardière, located on 32 acres in Saint-Tropez, France. Originally constructed in the 19th century as a private palace, it became a hotel hot spot for the Parisian aristocracy by the Roaring ’20s. Today, nightly prices for suites range from $3,000 to $8,000 or more.

Does knowing this give us any insight into what will happen in season four? The Château de la Messardière does boast multiple amenities — including restaurants, pools, and a sporting club — where the plot could play out. (Since Natasha Rothwell previously told us that her “passport’s ready” if The White Lotus comes calling again, we can’t help but point out that there’s also a spa that Belinda could stop by.) But specific details are still sparse, and the castle hotel apparently isn’t the only place the characters will be. According to Variety, the season’s full story will unfold at several settings along the French Riviera, with some scenes also shot at a hotel in Paris. Given that filming is reportedly set to begin at the end of April and conclude in October, sources told Variety that the Cannes Film Festival in May could be part of the plot. In any case, it seems like we’ll sadly have to wait at least another year to defrost our hopes for a White Lotus season where cold-blooded murders take place in the cold.
