Hobart Hurricanes Squad Announcement vs Sydney Sixers

After last night’s massive win over the Adelaide Strikers, the Cane Train rolls on to Sydney to take on a talented Sixers side who will be desperate to continue their winning streak with the BBL|15 Finals on the horizon!

The Hurricanes’ win has them in pole position to host a final, with a four-point lead over the teams placed from 2nd to 4th, but with each team having a game in hand on the ‘Canes.

Their match last night at Ninja Stadium was in front of their biggest home crowd of the summer and saw the Hurricanes in the unfamiliar territory of batting first for the first time at home in BBL|15.

Mitch Owen (33 off 9) continued his good form from the past few matches, with Rehan Ahmed (29 off 17), Matt Wade (27 off 19), and Nikhil Chaudhary (23 off 17) all scoring above 20 runs as they finished their innings on 6-178.

It was the Hurricanes’ bowlers who stole the show though. Riley Meredith (2-16) had a double-wicket maiden in his first over, before Nathan Ellis (2-7) followed up with two wickets in his over too, as the Strikers were 4-8 after three overs.

At the end of the 20 overs, Adelaide finished on 9-141, with Rishad Hossain (3-26) leading the way for the ‘Canes in a emphatic win.  

Tomorrow’s match against the Sixers sees one change to their squad from the Strikers game, with Beau Webster returning to the Hurricanes squad following the Ashes wrapping up.

Hurricanes Skipper Nathan Ellis is being managed for this match, with a BBL Finals campaign looking likely for Purple Army over the coming weeks. 

Jake Weatherald, who has been unavailable due to the Ashes, will not be available for this match against the Sixers. His availability will continue to be monitored as BBL|15 continues.
