Shillong, Jan 11: Singer and actor Prashant Tamang passed away on Sunday morning after a cardiac arrest.
Reports said the singer died at his residence in New Delhi. Tamang rose to prominence after winning the reality TV show Indian Idol in 2007.
Tamang was a popular singer in Nepal. He also acted in several Nepali movies. Recently, he acted in the OTT series Paatal Lok Season 2.
Tamang was born on January 4, 1983, in Darjeeling. Following the tragic loss of his father in an accident, he stepped into his shoes as a constable in the Kolkata Police, where he honed his musical skills as part of the police orchestra, said a social media post of The Darjeeling Chronicle.
He made his film debut in the 2010 Nepali blockbuster Gorkha Paltan.
