Globes never say die!
Five years after a Times investigation dulled the shine of the glitzy Hollywood affair, the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, airing Sunday, will cap off a multi-day series of events and tributes now dubbed “Golden Week.” It appears neither controversy nor potential conflicts of interest have been enough to keep this party down.

Winners list | Best red carpet looks | More Globes coverage
5:16 p.m. First award, for Female Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture, goes to Teyana Taylor, beginning the “One Battle After Another” sweep. Love that she wrote her speech on paper! Hate when folks read from their phones. —M.M.
First a caveat: These awards mean nothing in relation to the Oscars. But seeing the winners onstage delivering a big emotional speech, like the one Teyana Taylor just gave … that means a little something. The supporting actress category comes into focus a bit more with this win too. I had Taylor in front of Amy Madigan for “Weapons.” I think Taylor will win. She anchors “One Battle After Another” in its first 40 minutes. —G.W.

Hollywood’s party of the year is here, and with it, some of the best fashion of the year (never mind that we’re only 11 days into 2026).
The glitzy red carpet has been graced over the years by the biggest stars in Hollywood. From Angelina Jolie in shimmering Randolph Duke in 1999 to Charlize Theron’s 2004 Christian Dior gown to Cate Blanchett in (later recycled) black Armani Privé in 2014, the sartorial hits are too many to count.
What it’s like inside the ballroom before the Golden Globes begin
Thirty minutes before the show, stars were trickling into the main ballroom. The actors of “Nobody Wants This” — Adam Brody (keeping his sunglasses on and holding hands with wife and fellow actor Leighton Meester), Timothy Simons and Justine Lupe — shuffled past “The Secret Agent” star Wagner Moura’s table.
Also navigating the ballroom with his sunglasses in place was Walton Goggins (“The White Lotus”), graciously greeting staff, while eager fans of “Heated Rivalry” stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams tried to get their cameras ready for a quick snap to the polite frustration of staff trying to shuttle trays with dishes catered by Nobu that featured yellowtail and a trio of nigiri and miso black cod.
As the 10-minute warning was signaled over speaker, George Clooney and Sarah Snook walked in laughing and sharing pleasantries as they made their way to their seats.
Five minutes before the show, a bottleneck at the main stairway to the ballroom included the likes of “Severance’s” Britt Lower, “Monster’s” Charlie Hunnam, “Paradise’s” Sterling K. Brown, and, just as the lights dimmed, “One Battle After Another’s” Paul Thomas Anderson.

There’s that trademark self-deprecating tone she shares with Carrie Bradshaw, her most indelible character that she played for the better part of three decades, first in “Sex and the City,” which ran for six seasons on HBO in the late 1990s and early 2000s, then in the reboot “And Just Like That…,” which concluded last year after its third season.

Less than five years ago, the Golden Globes were hanging by a thread.
In the wake of a Times investigation that exposed the group’s self-dealing and ethical lapses and a complete lack of Black representation among its membership, NBC pulled the ceremony off the air as Netflix and Amazon Studios and more than 100 publicity agencies cut ties with the embattled Hollywood Foreign Press Assn.

Nominations for the 83rd annual Golden Globes arrived before dawn on Monday and in a crowded awards season full of early feints and false starts, one film came away having clearly won the morning’s skirmish: “One Battle After Another.”
Paul Thomas Anderson’s ambitious movie — about former political radicals reckoning with middle age, compromise and the ideals they once wore more proudly — showed up nearly everywhere the Globes could put it, leading the field with nine nominations. It landed nods for best motion picture (musical or comedy), director, screenplay and several actors, marking the broadest show of support for any film and giving a still-unsettled Oscar race something resembling a focal point.
