What other sporting events has the Italian star sung at?

Andrea Bocelli to return to Olympic stage 20 years after Turin 2006

The world-renowned tenor singer, best known for his stirring and powerful hits ‘Time to Say Goodbye’, ‘The Prayer’ and ‘Because We Believe’, will take centre stage during the ceremony which celebrates the unifying theme of Harmony.

It’s a concept he’s no stranger to having performed alongside the likes of Celine Dion, Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande. Olympic superfan Snoop Dog even invited the Italian tenor to perform as part of his Holiday Halftime Party on Christmas Day in 2025.

But his appearance at Milano Cortina 2026 will be special for an entirely different reason, as it will mark the second time the Italian star has graced the Olympic stage, following his show-stopping rendition of ‘Because We Believe’ at the Closing Ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Turin 2006.

That performance stood out as one of his first high-profile gigs at a major sporting event, and it was hardly the last.
