It’s only the start of January, but Jessie Buckley is having a brilliant year already. The actor and singer is currently starring alongside Paul Mescal in Hamnet, the much-anticipated movie which has earned Jessie her first Golden Globes nomination.

For her lead role in Hamnet, based on the novel by Maggie O’Farrell, which focuses on the grief of William Shakespeare’s wife after the loss of their son, and how this inspired his famous play, Hamlet, Jessie is nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in the Motion Picture ‘Drama’ category.

But while Jessie’s professional life is very much in the spotlight right now, her personal life is far from it. Who is Jessie Buckley’s husband?

Jessie Buckley has a husband called Freddie, and she confirmed this during a January 2024 interview on the Table Manners podcast.

What do we know about Jessie Buckley’s husband?

Aside from name-dropping him on the Table Manners podcast and then again in The New York Times in August 2025, Jessie has revealed very few details about her husband, Freddie, like his surname or age.

Piecing together the few nuggets of intel she has shared, however, we know that Freddie is from England. “He’s English, yeah,” Jessie said when asked on Table Manners. “He’s from Islington.”

She also revealed that Freddie works in mental health. “He’s working in mental health. He’s gone back to university to work in mental health,” Jessie said on the podcast. And, it’s because of his profession that Freddie remains out of the spotlight, with little to no information on him being shared publicly. She confirmed this in a British Vogue article this month: “Given his profession, his anonymity is crucial.”

How did Jessie Buckley meet her husband?

Unlike many of us who are trapped in the hellish realm of dating apps, Jessie met her husband on a blind date. “We met on a blind date,” she said on the Table Manners podcast. And, what’s more, they were set up by a music executive who worked with Jessie on Wild Rose. “Marc Robinson set us up,” she explained.

When did Jessie Buckley marry her husband?

We don’t know the exact date of Jessie’s wedding to Freddie, but based on what she revealed on the Table Manners podcast, it was sometime in the summer of 2023. Jessie also revealed that they tied the knot at their home in Norfolk, which sounds delightful.

“Friends of ours had moved to Norfolk and bought this old place for like nothing on an auction… and then they showed us this house that we live in, which is like [from the] 1500s and falling down… it’s a really amazing old house that’s been there forever,” she said of the property where they married (and now live together).

“One of my favourite memories of the day was: I wanted a keg of Guinness, and I definitely wanted their cheese toasties at a certain hour,” she added of her and Freddie’s wedding details.

Do Jessie Buckley and her husband have any children?

Yes, Jessie and Freddie have one child, but again, we don’t know much about the little one. In her NYT article last year, Jessie revealed they were expecting their first child together. Later on in 2025, in November, she opened up to ELLE about becoming a mother for the first time and revealed she had welcomed a daughter.

“The best thing about being a mom is just when even when you’re having a hard day, they give you these otherworldly little smiles and make your heart crack into a thousand pieces, and you think, ‘Oh, it’s all going to be okay’,” she said.

“My little girl just started to laugh and make silly noises,” Jessie added. “I think it’s the funniest and cutest thing in the world.”

Just one month later, Jessie gave even more details during an interview on The New York Times’ Modern Love podcast. “Everyone’s doing great… Everything’s different… Everything’s new,” she said of her and Freddie’s parenthood journey. “This little human is new. You’re new. Your relationship’s new. Your whole relationship to the world is new. It’s intense, but it’s just — I just love it. I love it so much.”
