Police investigating alleged arson at Brampton auto repair shop after tow trucks found on fire

Peel police are investigating an alleged arson at a Brampton auto repair shop after two tow trucks and surrounding vehicles were found on fire Tuesday morning.
Fire crews responded to calls reporting multiple vehicles on fire in the lot of a business near Rutherford Road S. and Orenda Road around 3:15 a.m., Const. Amanda Steenson told reporters at the scene.
Police are looking for two suspects who were seen pouring gasoline on the tow trucks, Steenson said. One was wearing a white shirt and grey pants.
Surveillance video of the property obtained by CBC News show a person walking around the tow trucks and another vehicle. The video shows them appearing to douse one of the trucks with an unknown liquid moments before it ignites into flames that then spread to the surrounding vehicles.

No one was injured in the fire and there is no reason to believe there is a threat to public safety, Steenson said. She said police are still working to determine a motive.
The property is located near the site of another alleged arson that took place last week, when several tow trucks were set on fire in the area of Rutherford and Glidden roads. Police said then that they’d received reports of multiple people setting trucks on fire before fleeing.
Police are investigating a possible link between the two alleged arsons, Steenson said.
Anyone with more information or video of the area at the time of the incident is being asked to contact police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
