Report: Red Sox sign Suarez to five-year, $130M deal

An already strong Boston Red Sox rotation has gotten even mightier.
USA TODAY’s Bob Nightingale reports the team has signed lefty Ranger Suarez to a five-year, $130 million deal.

Suarez, 30, had spent the entirety of his eight-year career with the Philadelphia Phillies.
A native of Pie de Cuesta, Venezuela, Suarez started 26 games last season. He was 12-8 with an earned run average of 3.20 and a 1.220 WHIP over 157.1 innings pitched. He struck out 151 batters and walked 38.
An All-Star in 2024, Suarez is 53-37 in 187 games with a 3.38 ERA and 1.270 WHIP over 762.0 innings pitched.
Suarez joins a rotation that features ace Garrett Crochet, fellow new addition Sonny Gray, Brayan Bello and Connelly Early. Kutter Crawford, Tanner Houck, Patrick Sandoval and Johan Oviedo are also options for manager Alex Cora.
