Court documents reveal details of Lincoln federal arrest that drew protesters

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – An arrest affidavit shared new details into a federal law enforcement operation that drew a large crowd in Lincoln Tuesday evening.
Court documents filed Tuesday show federal officers were attempting to serve an administrative arrest warrant for 25-year-old Juan Tlatenchi-Mireles, of Mexico, at 12:45 p.m.
Tlatenchi-Mireles was previously arrested and lodged in the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of third-degree domestic assault on Oct. 3, 2025, but he posted bond and was released before Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could assume custody.
An affidavit detailing that case alleges Tlatenchi-Mireles got into an alcohol-fueled argument with a friend and directed his anger toward his partner on July 20, 2025. Police wrote that Tlatenchi-Mireles allegedly punched the woman in the face three times while children were in the home.
Tlatenchi-Mireles pled not guilty to four counts of child abuse resulting in no injury and one count of third-degree assault. He failed to appear in court on Tuesday at 1 p.m. That case has been continued to Jan. 22 at 2 p.m.

Around the same time Tlatenchi-Mireles was due in court, an ICE agent said he witnessed him leave his Lincoln home near 32nd and Orchard streets in a red vehicle.
Another ICE agent in an unmarked vehicle attempted to pull over his vehicle near 27th and T streets, but Tlatenchi-Mireles refused to stop, committed several traffic violations and struck the agent’s vehicle while attempting to flee, court documents show.
The agents followed Tlatenchi-Mireles to his home, where he allegedly locked himself inside. Documents show that agents gave several commands in English and Spanish to surrender, but he refused.
LPD Assistant Chief of Operations Jason Stille said the crash opened up a line of communication between the agencies, and at 4:30 p.m., he was notified that about 40-50 people were gathering around the home while Homeland Security led an operation to serve a federal warrant at the home.
Shortly after, Stille authorized for several officers to go to the area in order to “keep the peace.”
10/11 cameras showed people emotional, shouting and cursing at officers as they served the warrant.
Stille said three federal agencies were involved, including Homeland Security, FBI and U.S. Marshals.
Tlatenchi-Mireles was eventually taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of assault on a federal law enforcement officer. He will make his first court appearance in federal court in Lincoln on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
Homeland Security agents led a law enforcement operation in northeast Lincoln on Tuesday evening, serving a federal warrant at a multi-unit residence.
