Nigerian-born forwards retained by Sheffield United ahead of next season

Following the completion of the 2025-2026 season, Championship outfit Sheffield United have announced their retained and released list.

The Blades have opted to keep Nigerian-born forwards Christian Nwachukwu and Ehije Ukaki despite uncertainty surrounding their futures at Bramall Lane.

Nwachukwu, who joined Sheffield United from Bulgarian outfit Botev Plovdiv in February 2025, spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Turkish second-tier side Serikspor.

The 20-year-old made eleven league appearances during his stint, scoring once and providing two assists.

Although he is yet to make his senior debut for the Blades, Nwachukwu was included in the matchday squad on one occasion, against Derby County in November 2025.

Ukaki also gained experience away from Bramall Lane after securing a loan move to Greek Super League club Atromitos during the January transfer window.

Before joining the Athens-based side, the 21-year-old received four call-ups for official matches with Sheffield United, while his only senior appearance came against Birmingham City in August 2025.

Nwachukwu is under contract with Sheffield United until June 2027, while Ukaki’s current deal runs through to June 2028.

Meanwhile, highly rated fullback Femi Seriki will also remain with the Blades after being retained for next season.

The defender enjoyed an impressive 2025-2026 campaign, registering one goal and six assists in 38 Championship appearances
