What time do UT Austin admissions decisions come out? What we know

High school seniors across Texas are refreshing their inboxes, group chats and applicant portals this morning, waiting for the three words that could determine where they’ll spend the next four years: “You’ve been admitted.”

While some students have already heard back, the majority are still waiting for official word from the Lone Star State’s flagship university, one of the most competitive public schools in the country.

UT admissions officials said decisions are typically rolled out in waves, with most applicants learning their fate by early February. The website lists the deadline to release all summer and fall admissions decisions as Feb. 15.

The UT admissions office has not specified if scores will be released at a particular time. On the UT admissions Reddit forum, one user mentioned an expected release at 5 or 6 p.m. CT, though the timing remains unclear.

Another user, recalling last year’s experience, suggested that scores might be released between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.

While UT has not shared any official statement about the volume of decisions that are expected to release today, one user in the UT admissions Reddit forum said they received a letter from their high school counseling office indicating that only 25% of decisions will be released today. The rest of the decisions are expected to be deferred so the admissions office has more time to review applications.

Yes, automatic admission will be offered to eligible students who ranked in the top 5% of their high school class at the end of their junior year. The website states that the university “must automatically admit enough students to fill 75% of available Texas resident spaces.”

Additionally, automatic admission will be granted for all students who received a non-traditional secondary education, such as home-school, if they submit an SAT composite score of 1570 or higher or an ACT composite score of 36.
