Three people including 17-year-old girl fatally shot in Lakewood; woman is detained

A woman, man and teenage girl were fatally shot in a home in Lakewood on Thursday. The three were believed to be family members, according to authorities.
Another woman, also believed to be a relative, was detained at the scene, said Lt. Daniel Vizcarra, of the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.
Authorities received a call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon in the 5800 block of Lorelei Avenue at 7:53 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The victims — a man, woman and 17-year-old girl — suffered gunshot wounds to their upper torsos, Deputy David Yoo said. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
When deputies arrived at the house, “they contacted a female who had run out of the house and immediately detained her,” Vizcarra said. Inside the home they found the bodies as well as a gun.
The surviving woman had not been identified as a suspect as of Thursday afternoon, but Vizcarra said, “we do not think there is an outstanding suspect” or threat to the community.
The names of the victims were not released pending notification of surviving family members, he said.
Additional information about the circumstances surrounding their deaths was not immediately available.
