Less than a month after its theatrical premiere, Song Sung Blue — the musical starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson as two musicians in a Neil Diamond tribute band — is now streaming. Keep reading to learn how to purchase or rent the film at home for your next movie night.
Based on Greg Kohs’s 2008 documentary of the same name, the film dramatizes the lives of Mike and Claire Sardina, a real-life married couple from Milwaukee who performed in a Neil Diamond tribute act. Their band, Lightning & Thunder, became a hit at bars, festivals, and fairs from the 1980s through the early 2000s.
“Based on a true story, two down-on-their-luck musicians (Jackman and Hudson) form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band, proving it’s never too late to find love and follow your dreams,” the synopsis reads. The movie also depicts the pair’s major life obstacles, from their time before meeting to the challenges they face after starting the band.
Audiences have widely embraced Song Sung Blue, giving it an impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, while critics have been less impressed, awarding it around 77%. The film has grossed $40 million worldwide at the global box office as of its digital release, against a reported production budget of $30 million.
In his review for The Hollywood Reporter, film critic David Rooney praised the feature, writing that director Craig Brewer’s “captivating retelling of the triumphs and tribulations of a Neil Diamond tribute act is grounded in real feeling and irresistibly rousing music.”
Rooney continued, “Most of all, it’s held aloft by winning performances from an ideally paired Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, the latter doing her best work since Almost Famous.”

When Will Song Sung Blue Be Released On 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray And DVD?
Song Sung Blue will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD starting on Feb. 17, 2026.

In the U.S., Song Sung Blue is distributed by Focus Features, which is part of NBCUniversal. That means the film will also be available to stream on NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock, in 2026.
When Will Song Sung Blue Be Streaming On Peacock?
Focus Features has not yet announced a Peacock release date for Song Sung Blue. However, the musical is expected to arrive two to three months after its Christmas Day 2025 release, putting its streaming debut likely sometime in February or March 2026.
For example, Focus Features’ Bugonia was released in late October and hit Peacock on Dec. 26. Nosferatu, which was released the same day as Song Sung Blue last year, landed on the streamer on Feb. 21, 2025. Stay tuned for the announced release date.
