Colin Kaepernick Sells NYC Penthouse for $2.8 Million

Colin Kaepernick has officially parted ways with his longtime New York City residence, selling his Tribeca condo for roughly $2.82 million.
According to property records obtained by The New York Post, the modern downtown home closed below what Kaepernick paid when he purchased the unit in 2016.
The former NFL quarterback bought the condo for $3.21 million at One York, a boutique Tribeca building designed by Mexican architect Enrique Norten.
The purchase came during a pivotal moment in Kaepernick’s life, shortly before his decision later that year to kneel during the national anthem—an act that would permanently alter his football career and elevate his profile as a civil rights activist.
Kaepernick played six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and famously led the team to Super Bowl XLVII in 2013, where they fell to the Baltimore Ravens. After becoming a free agent in 2017, he never returned to the league. He reached a 2019 settlement with the NFL after alleging he had been blacklisted. Despite stepping away from the field, Kaepernick continues to train, with prior reports noting he still works out daily.
The Tribeca residence spans approximately 1,733 square feet and offers a flexible two- to three-bedroom layout. A dedicated home office can easily function as an additional bedroom.
The apartment opens into a foyer that leads to an open living and dining area, anchored by a sleek chef’s kitchen outfitted with glass-front cabinetry. Design touches throughout include 9.5-foot ceilings, oversized windows, and wide-plank oak flooring.
The primary bedroom features custom closets and an en-suite bath, while the second bedroom offers expansive city views. The sale also included a temperature-controlled storage unit and a coveted parking space—valued at roughly $250,000—within the building’s automated garage, a first-of-its-kind system in New York City.
Amenities at One York include a rooftop heated pool, a sundeck, and full-service building perks. Past and present residents have included figures from sports, music, and media, reinforcing the building’s quiet celebrity appeal.
Kaepernick and his wife, media host and activist Nessa Diab, who share a daughter born in 2022, initially listed the condo in 2024. Commenting on the deal, listing broker Kirk Eckenrode said, “All parties are happy. It’s a fantastic downtown condo.”
