UPDATED FORECAST: Widespread snow totals of 2 to 5 inches in forecast for Sunday from 2nd weekend storm. Alerts expanded to 17 counties.
Weather alerts have been issued for parts of 15 New Jersey counties that could see 1 to 4 inches of snow Sunday in the second half of back-to-back winter storms.
Northern New Jersey got the most snow from Saturday’s storm with several spots reporting 4 to 5 inches.
The second storm on Sunday, however, is expected to bring higher snowfall totals south and west of the I-95 corridor, the National Weather Service said.
Areas through central New Jersey and in northeastern counties could get 2 to 4 inches of snow, the weather service said.
“The latest indications are that the coastal low expected for Sunday will track a bit farther north and west than earlier thinking bringing a more widespread accumulating snowfall event to the area,” the weather service said Saturday afternoon.
