Raptors’ Quickley, Lakers’ James and Doncic questionable on Sunday

Starting point guard Immanuel Quickley (back spasms) is listed as questionable, while reserve forward Jamison Battle (ankle) is probable for the Raptors entering the matchup. RJ Barrett (ankle), Jakob Poeltl (back) and Ja’Kobe Walter (hip) have all been ruled out.

As for the Lakers, their star duo of LeBron James (foot, sciatica) and Luka Doncic (groin) are also questionable for Sunday night. Meanwhile, Austin Reaves remains sidelined for L.A. due to a calf strain.

Quickley has missed two straight games for Toronto, last playing on Jan. 12 in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. He’s averaging 16.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.1 assists through 40 appearances. Battle missed Friday’s overtime loss to the Los Angeles Clippers after suffering a left ankle sprain in the Raptors’ win against Indiana on Jan. 14.

Sunday’s matchup will be Barrett’s fifth consecutive absence, Poeltl’s 14th and Walter’s fourth.

The Lakers head into the contest on the heels of a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday, a contest in which the 41-year-old James logged 33 minutes of action and Doncic did not participate in.

James missed the first 14 games of the season due to his lingering sciatica-induced injury, and has only played in one back-to-back during his record-setting 23rd season, so far.

The Raptors will be hoping that, whether or not James plays, they can come up with a better outcome than on Dec. 4, when the ageless wonder orchestrated a buzzer-beating game-winner for Rui Hachimura in Toronto.
