2 dead in Bloomington house fire

Two people died and three were injured as the result of a house fire that occurred around 2:40 a.m. Sunday on the 3800 block of East Anderson Road in Bloomington, according to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office and the Monroe County Fire Protection District responded to multiple calls reporting a fire early Sunday morning. Following their arrival, police found a car that had crashed into an attached garage, which was on fire.
After police made contact with an individual with severe burns who had escaped the fire, police located another individual who provided police with information. Both were transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital and later to a hospital in Indianapolis.
After locating the two remaining individuals from the residence, MCSO, with the assistance of the Bloomington Police Department and the Indiana State Police, located a person of interest in a wooded area near the house around an hour after arriving to the scene, according to the release.
“Charges are pending as the investigation continues,” the release said.
An earlier press release said that individual was being held in custody at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis due to injuries sustained during the fire.
The release said the Monroe County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for releasing the identities of the deceased individuals.
