Norwich City make bid to sign 17-goal striker amid Josh Sargent stand-off

Norwich City have made a bid to sign Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh, reports journalist Mike McGrath.

Norwich City look set to lose key striker Josh Sargent in this month’s transfer window. Toronto made a move to sign Sargent who has now been left in the dark by manager Philippe Clement, after making himself unavailable for the FA Cup clash vs Walsall earlier in the month.

Now, the Canaries are working to bring in what looks like a direct replacement for Sargent. Journalist Mike McGrath has revealed on X that Norwich City ‘have made a bid’ to sign Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh, who already has 17 goals and five assists in 28 league games for Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt this season.

Next up for Norwich City is a trip to West Brom on Tuesday night but Sargent looks set to miss out once again, with youngster Jovon Makama expected to be the sole starting striker for Clement.

What Philippe Clement has said about Josh Sargent

Sargent has seemingly been on the verge of leaving Carrow Road for the last few transfer windows. And he’s remained loyal to the club up until now it seems, with the American clearly keen to leave, potentially with a view to ensuring his spot in the 2026 World Cup squad.

Speaking to Pink Un this week, Clement was asked for an update on the saga. The Norwich City boss explained: “If there is a change, I will tell you guys directly, because I don’t want every three days, the same question and the same answer. So for the moment, no, if there’s a change I will be the first one to tell everybody, of course.”

NCFC though may clearly be working on Sargent’s exit with this latest offer for Hogh. Clement and co won’t want to leave themselves light up front amid this relegation battle, but tempting Hogh to the club whilst he’s playing Champions League football against the likes of Man City and then Atletico Madrid this month, will be tough.

Kasper Hogh’s career so far as Norwich City make transfer offer

Hogh is a 25-year-old Danish striker who began his career with Randers but has made his name with Bodo/Glimt, who he joined in 2024.

His record in Denmark with the likes of Randers and Aalborg wasn’t all that impressive. But he’s really found his scoring touch in Norway with an incredible record of 40 goals in 81 total games for the club.

Last season, Hogh was the joint top-scorer in the Europa League and helped Bodo win the Norwegian top flight, scoring 12 goals in 23 league games as well as seven in 14 Europa League games.

Standing at 6ft1, Hogh may be much more of a target man than Sargent is, and if he can come in at Carrow Road and replace the goals that Sargent brings to the side then he’ll become an instant favourite, especially considering how Sargent’s Norwich spell looks set to end negatively.

Norwich City are back in action away at West Brom on Tuesday night in a 7:45pm kick off, as NCFC look to secure a third-straight win in all competitions and fourth win in five, as Clement’s side start to regain form.
