Fortnite’s The Office collab revealed — and it’s as bland as it should be

When we got a tease of The Office coming to Fortnite, it was hard to imagine what a bundle based on the iconic sitcom could be. Would we get Bizarro versions of beloved characters? A skin based on Dwight’s Earth Day supervillain, Recyclops? 15 different versions of Creed (Creed Bratton)? In the end, it seems we are getting the most appropriately boring skin selections: Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) and Michael Scott (Steve Carell).

The news comes from reliable Fortnite leaker HypeX, who shared images of the bundle on social media, which you can see below. Nothing makes more sense for The Office in Fortnite than a couple of guys in their suits, ready to sell some paper to a variety of Peely skins. And while calling them boring might sound derogatory, it’s not. If Michael and Dwight wound up in Fortnite, this is what they’d look like: a couple of dorks in suits, way out of their league.

Each skin also includes two bonus edit styles. Michael’s bonus styles are pulled directly from iconic episodes of The Office. The first is his Blind Guy McSqueezy character. This incredibly classy character that basically assaults women was first introduced in season 6, episode 7, “The Lover.” That’s the episode where it’s revealed Michael is having an affair with Pam’s mom, which is probably the last thing a boss should be doing to one of his employees.

The other Michael style is Date Mike, the persona he puts on when set up on a blind date in season 6, episode 21, “Happy Hour.” Would you believe this version of Michael is not good at dating, just like the other versions? And in case you were wondering about the attention to detail, Michael’s standard skin depicts him in the women’s suit he gets ridiculed for wearing in the season 3 episode, “The Negotiation.”

Dwight also gets an edit style pulled directly from the show. In the season 5 episode, “Stress Relief,” Dwight cuts the face off of a CPR dummy and wears it over his own, nodding to The Silence of the Lambs. Now, you can be that dummy-murdering version of Dwight. Dwight’s other style is just a variation of his original style, but with a suit jacket on. The lack of Recyclops is unfortunate.

You can check out the rest of the bundle, based on leaked images, below.

  • Dwight’s desk glider (with stapler in Jell-O and bobblehead)
  • Murdered CPR doll back bling
  • World’s Best Boss coffee mug back bling
  • Kevin’s tissue box kicks
  • Dundie Award pickaxe
  • Broom sharpened into a stake pickaxe
  • The Scarn dance emote
  • Dwight’s Lil’ Lead Car emote

It remains to be seen how much the bundle will cost when it reportedly drops on Jan. 23. If you don’t want to invest in the entire collection, though, we implore you to at least consider The Scarn emote. It might be the best addition from The Office that Epic Games could include, pulled directly from the season 7 episode, “Threat Level Midnight,” in which Michael makes everyone watch a movie he made. Truly, it’s hard to think of a better emote in all of Fortnite at the moment — at least until we finally get one of the Urkel.

The only downside of this bundle is that we’ll never get to see Michael and Dwight finding out they were immortalized in Fortnite. That would have been a hell of a cold open for an episode of The Office.
