Jaime King is reportedly getting a second divorce. According to court documents obtained by People, banker Austin Sosa filed to divorce the Hart of Dixie actress on Thursday, just seven months after the duo announced their engagement. It’s unclear when they got married, though an Us Weekly source estimates it took place sometime before Christmas. On Friday, King told Us Weekly she was “completely blindsided by the divorce filing, which came out of nowhere.” She added, “I was with Austin the night before it became public, and while like many marriages we had normal challenges, I genuinely believed we were working on our relationship.”
King also pushed back against tabloids that noted the divorce filing came weeks after she was rumored to be hanging out with hotelier Vikram Chatwal. “Any recent interactions being referenced publicly were strictly professional business meetings and have no connection to this private matter,” she said. “This is deeply personal and should remain private, and I hope people will stop making assumptions, particularly ones that unfairly and disproportionately scrutinize women simply for doing their jobs.”
Per People, King and Sosa met through mutual friends — a source claimed she was close with his family and had been living with Sosa’s parents after she moved out of her Los Angeles apartment last year. News of their engagement became public in July, when King was spotted leaving a salon in West Hollywood wearing a giant diamond ring. When asked for confirmation, King’s reps told People she was “especially happy to share this moment with her children, who have a loving bond with Austin and his family.” The rep added that the actress’s sons (10-year-old Leo and 12-year-old James, whom she shares with ex-husband Kyle Newman) “remain her top priority, and she kindly asks for privacy as they move forward together with love and gratitude.”
King was previously married to well-known director Newman. After 13 years of marriage, she filed for divorce in May 2020, and following a contentious custody battle, their split was finalized in September 2023.
