What Happens In The Game Should Never Lead To Cyberbullying Or Harassment

Peacock has issued a warning to The Traitors viewers as the game heats up.
Growing negative discourse has spread on social media as the Faithful try to uncover Traitors in the game. As viewers at home debate which celebrity contestant has the best strategy, the streamer has released a statement reminding audiences to be kind.
“We are committed to making our cats feel safe, respected, and supported — on screen and off,” read the statement.
“The cast of The Traitors are real people, and what happens in the game should never lead to cyberbullying or harassment. There’s a difference between discussing a show and targeting individuals,” the statement continued. “Let’s not ruin the passion for this show with unwarranted negativity and personal attacks. We appreciate your support.”
This is not the first time Peacock has had to take to social media to remind viewers not take a show too personally. Last summer, they issued a statement appreciating Love Island USA fans for their passion, but reminding them to “be kind” and “spread love” instead of hate.
In its fourth season, The Traitors has seen the Faithful once again try to uncover the Traitors, which are Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Lisa Rinna, Real Housewives of Potomac alum Candiace Dillard Bassett, and Love Island USA alum Rob Rausch.
Some of the contestants featured this season have been getting heat online for being loud and wrong in the game. Their aggressive play has shifted conversations at the roundtable, targeting fellow Faithful who have been fan favorites, ousting them from the competition.
The Traitors is based on the Dutch series De Verraders, a game that splits its contestants into two groups: The Faithful and the Traitors. At the beginning of the season, host Alan Cumming picks the Traitors that will pit the Faithful against each other by murdering them one by one while trying to remain undercover. The Faithful attempt to uncover the Traitors in a roundtable where they vote each other out and banish them from the game. At the end of the game, if there are Traitors left in the game, they will split the money between them. If there are no Traitors left, the money is divided among the Faithful.
