Saturday Night’s Main Event results, live coverage.

WWE legend John Cena final match filled with tributes and praise
John Cena capped off his amazing, 23 year run in the WWE with one last match in Washington, D.C.
Saturday Night’s Main Event is coming live for the first time since the last time. The last time was when John Cena wrestled his final match. Tonight, you can’t see him, but you can see a lot of action.
WWE’s first big event of the New Year happens one week before the Royal Rumble. And we’re live from the Jersey Shore where it’s cold outside but the action on TV is as hot as ever.
We’ll be with you from the opening bell until the final fall.
They’ve wrestled at WrestleMania, they’ve battled at the Tokyo Dome and now they’re doing it at Saturday Night’s Main Event. And they’re billing this as what could be the final time because if AJ Styles loses to GUNTHER at the Royal Rumble, he has to retire. Shinsuke Nakamura would be a great sendoff match for us to remember him by, these guys never disappoint, but I hope Styles has a lot more left after next weekend. For some reason, I’ve been spelling Styles “Syles” every time I write it. If I do, please excuse me. AJ coming to the ring in a mask. He wore a mask when he wrestled Shinsuke Nakamura at the Tokyo Dome, so great nod to that. Nakamura has had a fantastic WWE career. I’d like to see him back atop the card, but if you were worried about him not making it in WWE, I think it’s time you can stop worrying. WWE uses him in a lot of different roles. He can be a good guy, he can be a bad guy, he can do anything they need. That’s a great guy to have. Styles is the same way. The fans are into Nakamura’s song. Styles looks ready! We are off and running. They start out chain wrestling, with competing “AJ Styles” “Nakamura” chants breaking out. Neither man are unable to get an edge, though a Nakamura dropkick to Styles’ chest caused some pain. Now Styles is starting to take over with a side back breaker. Styles throws Nakamura to the outside and hits a crossbody block. Back inside, Nakamura takes over, hitting some big knees in the corner, but only gets a two. He’s sticking with the knees. Now Nakamura locks in a chinlock. Nakamura is toying with Styles, but he fights back and hits a clothesline. Styles hits a backbreaker, but only gets a two count. Nakamura hits a kick and now he’s taking over. He’s hitting a lot of kicks on Styles. Nakamura hits another big kick, and Styles looks beaten. Nakamura hits a knee, but only gets a two count. This is a lot of striking in this match. Strong style baby! Styles with a dropkick to the knee and now he’s working on Nakamura’s wheel. And he locks on the calf crusher. Nakamura gets to the ropes. Styles locks in the calf crusher again, but Nakamura is able to hang on and lock on an armbar. AJ is fighting it off. Now he has Styles in a triangle choke. Nakamura is asking him to tap, but Styles reverses it into a Styles Clash, but can’t hit it. But he does hit a huge knee right in Nakamura’s face. Ouce.
I don’t love that Liv Morgan was pinned, but I get it. Great match. All four women brought it. The women are as good as the men now, and it’s great to see. The tag team division is as good as anything I’ve ever seen.
Rhea Ripley, Iyo SKY vs. Liv Morgan, Roxanne Perez
I’m not sure I like the Rhiyo name, but they are a great team and fun to watch. As much as I like them, I’m pulling for the challengers. Roxanne is so good and Morgan is the best. Not that the good girls aren’t, but I enjoy seeing bad guys with titles way more than good guys. With only four matches on the card and one already over, this should be a goodie. And her comes Judgment Day! The fans are cheering for all four women, which is kind of cool. Liv and Roxanne ganged up on Iyo Sky, but she fought out of it and now she’s going to work on Perez. But Liv gets a cheap shot in, giving Perez the edge. Perez and Morgan hit a combo Russian Leg Sweep, Codebreaker on Sky, but she kicks out. Morgan is now doing her three amigos suplex, great tribute to her boyfriend’s dad. She hits a running kick, but Sky escapes at two. Morgan tries to keep Iyo from making the tag, but she can’t. And now Rhea Ripley is getting revenge on Liv. And Rhea is in control with a drop kick and a fallaway slam. Great match. Liv went for a codebreaker, but Rhea catches her. Before she can give Liv a Razor’s Edge, Liv tags out. Perez goes crazy with lefts and rights and screams while doing it. Wow, they hit a doubleteam move on Rhea, with a Frankensteiner and a code breaker on Rhea, but she escapes. Liv was going for Oblivian, but Rhea cuts her off and kicks her in the head. All four women are in the ring brawling, Iyo can’t get a three count on Morgan after a dropkick. Rhea landed on her head, I hope she’s OK. Morgan and Sky are wrestling in the ring, Morgan went for a rollup, but couldn’t get the three. Sky went for her moonsault, but Perez got the boots up and Perez hits her finisher, but Rhea breaks it up. It was like two and 79/80s. That was so close. Rhea hits RipTide, Sky hits her moonsault, but Raquel Rodriguez tripped Rhea and she fell on the referee before he could hit the three count. Rodriguez then hits a powerbomb on Sky, but Stephanie Vaquer is here and she’s going after Rodriguez. They brawl into the crowd. ECW! ECW! ECW! ECW! Back in the ring, Perez does for a cover on Sky but she gets out at 2. Morgan tags in, so does Rhea. Morgan hits Oblivian on Sky, but Ripley hits Riptide on Liv. Champs retain.
Drew McIntyre said that anyone who makes a move on his title should expect the same treatment. That’s not very nice. But Drew, I have no interest in your title!
This match is impossible to grade because it never started. There were no pinning predicaments. Neither guy got started. It was just a huge brawl with Drew McIntyre coming out and beating up both men. Good match, fun brawl, great start to the night.
Jacob Fatu is out first, next is Cody. I expect both of these guys to be fan favorites tonight. Fatu is too cool to boo, and Cody Rhodes deserves to be cheered. He does whatever the fans want. Let’s cheer him. Fatu doesn’t like Rhodes. He jumps Cody, but Cody fights back. This match has been thrown out! Fatu is superkicking all the officials. Then he did a springboard moonsault to the outside hitting all the refs. This match is over. Already? Never mind, Cody jumps Fatu on his way to the back. They’re brawling all over the arena. Now they’re back in the ring and back out of the ring. Cody hit another dive. Refs are breaking it up, but the fans are cheering. Cody isn’t satisfied. He clotheslines Fatu over the railing and they’re back to brawling. Fatu is all gas, no brakes! The fight continues and Fatu is taking the brunt of the beating. They’re just going through the crowd brawling. This has turned into an ECW fight with Cody throwing trashcans. Fatu is getting in his shots, too. He just Rock Bottomed a ref through a table. I guess he yayayayayayayaya mean? Now they’re back into the arena. This is great because they’re giving the fans a great show, and this will not end here. I’m not sure they’re even going to wrestle. And Drew McIntyre has shown up. He took them both out. Including a huge powerbomb through a table on the American Nightmare.
Michael Cole on the call
The show begins with Michael Cole, who tells us the main event will be the fatal fourway, which we predicted! Woo hoo! We are opening with Cody Rhodes vs. Jacob Fatu and he’s cutting a promo. Now, he’s on his way to the ring!
It’s the Road to the Royal Rumble, and Stephanie McMahon opens the broadcast telling us how cold Montreal is. It should be. It’s Canada. What about New Jersey? We don’t deserve this! We deserve warm! She introduces us to the opening of the show. We are ready to rumble!
A lot can change tonight, and there’s still two more shows — Raw and Smackdown — before the Royal Rumble. So even more can change. But going into Saturday Night’s Main Event, I’m going with my Royal Rumble predictions. I’m taking Liv Morgan to win the woman’s Royal Rumble, just because she’s back and fresh again. I would think Seth Rollins would be a perfect choice for the men’s, but I’m not sure he’ll be back. I’d love to see him or Kevin Owens return, but I won’t pick them because I don’t think either will be there. I’m going with Roman Reigns. It’s time for him to get his championship back. I still think Cody Rhodes cheated when he won!
If you’re like me and miss watching WWE on Peacock, you got to check out the WWE Vault on Youtube. Every day it seems, they put up something new, something worth watching. If you’re not watching UFC tonight and need more action after tonight’s show, WWE added the Madison Square Garden show where Hulk Hogan wrestled the Iron Sheik for the WWF Championship. It was far from a one-match card, it’s worth checking out, but this was the night Hogan became the biggest star in the sport.
The weather outside is frightful, but tonight is a pretty good TV night. Not only do you have Saturday Night’s Main Event, but if you have Paramount+, you can check out UFC’s debut on that station. On WWE’s partner Netflix, you can watch a guy climb a building. I like that better when they put a championship atop the building!

Saturday Night’s Main Event Predictions
Here’s how we see the matches going.
Cody Rhodes vs. Jacob Fatu
Jacob Fatu shouldn’t lose here. It’s possible he does, but I really hope he doesn’t. He’s back, he’s a monster and he should be atop every card he’s on. I think Rhodes can afford to lose. Will he? I’m not sure. He just dropped the championship, and he’s one of the favorites to win the Royal Rumble. I think something happens here where maybe Drew McIntyre gets involved? Or double countout maybe? I’m going with double disqualification.
Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky vs. Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez
First, how great has the tag team ranks been in WWE? Some of the biggest stars in the game are competing for the tag team championships right now. Either of these teams could walk out with the gold and would be great champions. This is the only championship on the line, at least as of Tuesday, so I think we could see a change. We’ll go with the upset. Prediction: Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez win the titles.
AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
On paper, this match should be No. 1 with a bullet. Two of the best in the game going toe to toe on the big screen a week before AJ Styles puts his career on the line in a match with Gunther. That makes me think Styles will win to stay hot going into that match. Of course it wouldn’t shock me if Gunther cost Styles the match, but I’m going to go with the guy going into the rumble with a main event spot. Prediction: AJ Styles
Randy Orton vs. Damian Priest vs. Trick Williams vs. Sami Zayn
This match sets up who Drew McIntyre wrestles at the Royal Rumble. I could make a case for all four of these guys to win. Randy Orton is the biggest star, Trick Williams is up and coming, Damian Priest needs to get back into the title picture and we know he’ll have a great match with McIntyre, so all three of those guys would be great winners. But the show is at the Bell Centre in Montreal. so we’re going with the hometown boy. Sami Zayn gets his title match at the Royal Rumble. Prediction: Sami Zayn wins the fatal fourway.
