Patriots receiver arrives at AFC Championship Game dressed as movie character from 1970s cult classic

Even before returning to the Patriots lineup, Mack Hollins was making some noise.

As players arrived at Empower Field at Mile High for the AFC Championship Game, Hollins was dressed as Luther from “The Warriors,” a 1979 cult classic.

The wide receiver clinked bottles together as he walked through the hallway to the Patriots locker room, yelling Luther’s signature, “Warriors, come out to play!” Kicker Andy Borregales seemed amused as he walked next to Hollins, trying not to crack too big a smile.

Hollins had been sidelined for the last four games with an abdomen injury, but was activated off injured reserve on Saturday and is ready to play. His quarterback, Drake Maye, is thrilled to see the veteran pass catcher return to the mix.

“Man, Mack’s been awesome. It’s been awesome having him back,” Maye said. “He’s a great player for us, been a great player for us all year. He practices hard. He’s one of those guys that brings it every day and has ever since I met him. I know he started off in OTAs and training camp battling a little injury, but since then, he’s been all gas, no brakes, and that’s how he is.

“He’s staying, running routes after practice. He’s doing all the little things. I always see him before the games on Saturday nights, drawing every single play up in the pass plays. He does those things, and you can tell why so many different teams wanted him and how he plays at a high level.”
