Random attack on NE Calgary Transit bus injures 1: police

Calgary police are searching for a suspect who they say kicked a man and struck him on the head in a seemingly random attack on a Calgary Transit bus in the city’s northeast Saturday.
It happened around 1:30 p.m., when a man entered a bus in the area of 12 Avenue and Centre Street NE.
Police say the victim was already seated at the back of the bus when the suspect — seated two rows ahead — got up and kicked the victim on the leg before smashing his head with a baton.
They add that the bus driver stopped “immediately” before the suspect fled the scene.
The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene by EMS.
Witnesses say the attack appeared random. Officers tell 660 NewsRadio they are investigating to see if there is a connection between the suspect and the victim.
Meanwhile, after a canine tracker was used in their search for the suspect, they were unable to find him and are now asking the public for help.
The suspect is described as being 5’7″ tall, with a slim build, short dark hair, and having several missing teeth. He was seen wearing black glasses and a long black trench coat.
Anyone with information about this incident can call Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
