Dax Shepard should leave the dating advice to Cher. After an hourlong discussion on this week’s episode of Armchair Expert, host Shepard’s last question to SNL’s Marcello Hernández was about his relationship with Sabrina Carpenter. Shepard prefaced the conversation by admitting he’s “newly obsessed with her.” Hernández explained that he and Carpenter bonded over the SNL “Domingo” sketch. “She’s down to clown … to think of something funny,” he added. Yet Shepard didn’t get the “she’s in the friend zone” hint, asking, well, stating bluntly, “If I’m you, and I’m 28, I’m going to try to date her with all my might. Are you not trying your hardest to marry her?”
After laughing into his cup, Hernández firmly shut down the idea, saying, “I’m in a relationship with a Dominican girl.” He then listed off her accomplishments: She’s an architect, she went to Yale, she’s unreal. “Okay, so, never mind,” Shepard accepted. Yeah, maybe stick with the podcasting and don’t try to get into celebrity matchmaking.
