Ted Lasso Returning for Season 4 This Summer

Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) will be back on the sidelines this summer, when Apple TV’s hit comedy Ted Lasso tackles women’s soccer. That’s as specific as it gets for now, premiere-wise.

Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift will also return for season four alongside newcomers Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely. Ted Lasso is currently in production.

“In season four, Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team,” the official logline reads. “Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”

Season three ended with Lasso leaving AFC Richmond to be closer to his son and ex-wife (Andrea Anders). Production on season four kicked off in Kansas City, Missouri, the hometown of both Sudeikis and Lasso.

For season four, Jack Burditt (Nobody Wants This, Modern Family, 30 Rock) joins the sitcom as executive producer under a new overall deal with Apple TV. Sudeikis (SNL) stars and executive produces alongside Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel. Goldstein serves as writer and executive producer alongside Leanne Bowen. Sarah Walker and Phoebe Walsh will write and produce season four; Sasha Garron co-produces. Julia Lindon is also a writer, and Dylan Marron will serve as story editor.

Bill Lawrence (Scrubs) executive produces via his Doozer Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television. Doozer’s Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer also serve as executive producers. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly and Hunt, and is based on the NBC Sports shorts.

Following lengthy speculation about the show’s future — Ted Lasso season three ended in May 2023 — Apple officially ordered a fourth season in March 2025. At the time, Sudeikis was the only castmember officially attached, producer Warner Bros. TV had previously picked up options for Waddingham, Goldstein and Swift, who play, respectively, AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton, player turned assistant coach Roy Kent and Leslie Higgins, Rebecca’s right-hand man at the club. Temple and Hunt were in negotiations to reprise their roles back then.

Ted Lasso earned back-to-back best comedy series Emmys for seasons one and two.
