Curry reaches No. 19 on all-time scoring list

With a pair of free throws in the fourth quarter on Jan. 25, Stephen Curry passed John Havlicek and tied Paul Pierce for the NBA’s all-time scoring record.
On Wednesday, he passed Pierce (26,397) with a stepback 3-pointer in the first quarter vs. the Utah Jazz for sole possession of 19th place. In the Warriors’ 140-124 win, Curry finished with 27 points on 7-for-14 shooting (4-for-10 on 3-pointers).
Curry’s milestone comes roughly a month after he passed Kevin Garnett for No. 21 on Dec. 29 vs. Brooklyn. If he stays healthy, he could go as high as No. 12 by season’s end, leapfrogging over Hall of Famers Tim Duncan, Dominique Wilkins, Oscar Robertson and Hakeem Olajuwon, among others.
Curry’s been filled stat sheet in January, averaging 24.4 ppg while shooting 38.8% from 3-point range.
Steph Curry moves to No. 19 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, passing Paul Pierce.
He had 13 regular-season games with 35-plus points after turning 37, passing Michael Jordan (12) in a 123-115 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Only LeBron James (38) has more all-time.
This season, he’s had nine games with 35-plus points, trailing only James for most such games in a season after turning 37. James had 14 such games in the 2022-23 season.
