Eagles are hiring Sean Mannion as offensive coordinator

Once Mannion’s playing career ended in 2023, he moved right into the coaching world, joining Green Bay as an offensive assistant working primarily with quarterbacks Jordan Love and Malik Willis.
Some notes on Mannion, who is known in NFL circles as a talented, young, up-and-coming coach:
- He joined the Packers as an offensive assistant on Feb. 5, 2024, and was promoted to quarterbacks coach on Jan. 31, 2025.
- Prepared for the role by both his nine years as an NFL quarterback as well as his two years of coaching. The coaching minds Mannion has been around have prepared him for this moment, and it is an all-star list including Dave Canales (now Carolina head coach), Tom Clements (former Packers quarterbacks coach), Liam Coen (Jacksonville head coach), Gary Kubiak (former NFL head coach), Klint Kubiak (Seahawks offensive coordinator), Sean McVay (Rams head coach), Kevin O’Connell (Vikings head coach), Kevin Stefanski (Falcons head coach), Zac Taylor (Bengals head coach), and GrantUdinski(Jaguars offensive coordinator).
- The system he is coming from? Mannion has a great deal of experience in the Shanahan offense both from his playing days and in his time working in Green Bay. It was no coincidence that Mannion jumped immediately to the coaching staff in Green Bay after his playing days ended, as Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur recognized him as a natural to help take an offense to new heights.
The Eagles cast a wide net looking for the right man. They entered the process with an open mind and were in no rush to complete the process, intent more in doing it the right way.
During the last couple of weeks, the team was able to hear and learn from an array of impressive offensive minds from around the league, and with the hire of Mannion they have another bright, young mind to work with a talented group of offensive players and coaching staff who brings a different offensive background to lead the group in Philadelphia.
Mannion threw for 13,600 yards in his Oregon State career, which ranked eighth in NCAA history at the time of his graduation. He understands the value of the passing game and it was evident in Green Bay, where Love and the Packers had a productive, explosive attack that forced defenses to cover sideline to sideline and respect all phases of the attack.
A fast-rising coach in the NFL, Mannion leads an Eagles offense that has talent and experience in every aspect and now embarks with a new vision and a new man, bringing an aggressive and high-scoring scheme to Philadelphia.
